Hoping

Growing up in a neighborhood of NASCAR fans is pretty tough when Formula One is racing is in your blood. Since I was a kid I would imagine my self finishing the 72nd lap and splashing champagne on the hundreds of paparazzi taking my picture and a life size trophy to take home with me. My friends however talk about the dirt track. Don't get me wrong, I would totally watch NASCAR as well but I just think that F1 is way cooler. I would even write my essay that way almost everytime and my teacher would constantly tell me to choose another theme for essay writing class. I remember constantly getting into fights with my older brother when the call Barrichiello and Montoya losers. I saw those two as great men who I would really want to be when I grow up.

By the time I entered junior high, I knew that the odds of becoming an F1 racer was out of my reach. One has to be bred or even trained since childhood to become one. There was this driver in F3 racing, had about two years of experience, who died. I then knew that my chances were flat and that the best way I can be part of F1 was to be a die hard fan.

There was this time when F1 came to the country and I was glad to finally show my brothers why I loved it so much. It rained the day before and the track was so slippery that the had to cancel. Damn! That even multiplied my brothers' hate about a hundred times.
